If you’re dreaming of a crisp green and white colour palette for your big day, you’re going to love Oliver and Nick’s spring wedding at the Boathouse in Brooklyn, New York. The couple chose a fresh, clean, yet romantic palette that reflected the natural verdant surroundings in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, which was brought to life with fluffy white David Austin Wedding Roses and lush emerald green foliage.
With its Beaux-Arts style architecture, white terracotta façade, and French doors opening out to a terrace overlooking the lake, the Boathouse was the perfect venue to celebrate the couple’s love of natural beauty. Oliver and Nick worked with wedding planner Cherish Events and floral designer Stems Brooklyn to enhance the lush environment for their outdoor ceremony, and shared their vows in front of a magnificent foam-free floral arch filled with white David Austin Wedding Roses – Leonora, Eugenie, Purity and Patience.
The newlyweds’ French Bulldogs, Preston and Theodore, had to be involved in the wedding and their appearance at the intimate ceremony, adorned in cute floral collars, was a super special moment and a core memory of the day.
For the reception, the couple dreamt of a garden party vibe so florist Stems Brooklyn created a delicate growing garden runner down the centre of the tables, featuring spring tulips, ranunculus, David Austin Roses and the warm glow of candles. The wedding party dined under the pretty herringbone tiled ceiling of the boathouse to a melodic pop-and-soul vocal soundtrack performed by a local musician.
The wedding colour palette highlighted the Verdigris green details of the venue and shades of green were woven throughout the stationery and signage as well as the groom’s attire and floral design. Even the wedding cake was a gorgeous shade of Verdigris, as well as the vintage rotary dial telephone where guests were invited to leave messages for the happy couple.
Oliver and Nick’s stunning spring wedding is a great example in how embracing the environment in your wedding design can create an event that feels delightfully at one with the season and natural surroundings.
