Blush has long been the go-to colour for brides and though we love it too, it’s great to see couples embracing other shades of pink, from cerise to fuchsia, coral to magenta. Barbiecore has given pink a fresh lease of life, and the exuberant hue continues to be a much-welcomed colour wedding trend for 2024.
Pink symbolises unconditional love, health and playfulness, making it the perfect choice for any style of wedding but pink does require a careful hand to keep it chic and sophisticated. David Austin Wedding Roses are the ideal flower to introduce pink into your wedding in an elegant way and here are eight gorgeous ideas to help inspire.
New Pink David Austin Roses
We have three exquisite new roses that we recently launched and two of the varieties – Hettie and Millicent – are beautiful shades of pink. Hettie (AUSCP17117) is super sassy, full of charisma and confidence, born to take centre stage. She blooms quickly to reveal a striking rich pink star rosette, surrounded by a ring of neat, layered outer petals in a lighter pink fuchsia tone.
Meanwhile, Millicent (AUSCP17431) is the rose of a bygone era, boasting heaps of old-fashioned glamour reminiscent of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Sophisticated, feminine, and timeless, Millicent is a cornucopia of wonderful things with her vivacious colour; vintage style and mesmerising scent of citrus and old rose.
Romantic Pink Rose Bridal Bouquet
This gathering of pink David Austin Roses is exquisite and show-stopping in its simplicity. Without any foliage or other flowers to detract from their beauty, each rose variety has space to bloom and be truly appreciated for their unique colour, form and fragrance. From our palest blush roses like Eugenie, Purity and Keira to the watercolour tones of Constance and pillowy candy-pink Miranda, this ombre bouquet of pink roses feels decidedly modern and totally romantic..
Luxurious Pink Wedding Reception
When it comes to pink wedding decor, we think go big! In our latest editorial at The Athenaeum – one of the most beautiful and sought-after wedding venues in California – we celebrated pink in all its glory.
Bountiful compote designs in small stone urns decorate the reception tables, overflowing with fragrant roses and striking Gloriosa lilies. A pale pink floral tablecloth, blush taper candles and gold cutlery make for a dreamy tablescape that perfectly complements the bride’s floral appliqué reception dress. We embraced the bow trend with swathes of rose pink taffeta tied to the bride and groom’s chairs to up the drama even more.
Pink and Red Wedding
Once considered a serious fashion faux pas, red and pink is now a much-loved colour pairing for those serious about style. There’s no need to pick between these two shades, in fact we love to see them both used in abundance for a dramatic wedding look that’s sure to make a statement. Tess and Constance look fabulous together (pictured below) but don’t limit pink and red to your wedding flowers alone – add splashes to your decor through tablecloths, napkins, candles and tableware to really up the drama. And if a traditional ivory wedding gown feels too conventional, why not go pink? Dress designers to look out for include Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, Emilia Wickstead and Millia London.
Classic Pink Rose Bouquet
If you’ve chosen a detailed wedding dress like the heavenly Kelly gown from the Fall 2024 collection of New York designer, Sareh Nouri, you’ll need a simple bouquet that doesn’t compete for attention. In this case, a cluster of pink roses is all the bride needs and our new rose, Millicent, looks like it was made for this moment. The frothy pink petals, warm vivid pink hue and delicate scent of citrus and old rose add a feeling of luxurious elegance, and play a perfect supporting role to the extravagantly detailed dress.
Bold Pink Rose Bouquet
Pink roses are an eternal wedding favourite and our specialist Wedding Rose collection at David Austin provides a choice between pretty and dramatic tones. Pink symbolises friendship, affection, harmony and compassion, making it the perfect colour choice for a wedding in any season. Whether you choose a soft marshmallow blush rose like Constance or Keira, a brighter Barbie-pink Miranda or the deep fuchsia tones of Kate and Capability, there’s a perfect pink David Austin Rose for you.
If you want to create a sense of drama for your wedding reception, ask your florist about elevated arrangements such as rose trees (pictured below). Based on the traditional style of a round topiary tree, these rose trees were handmade with David Austin Roses and are pure luxury and sure to become the talking point of your big day.
Dramatic Floral Wedding Décor
A bounty of roses feels infinitely luxurious and infuses this wedding ceremony setting with style and sophistication. For our latest editorial in California, floral designer Tula Rosa Flowers created a spectacular floral display around the stone steps and Corinthian columns at the entrance to The Athenaeum. The colourful rose palette blended from deep pink Hettie to the softer pinks of Keira, Constance, Miranda and Millicent. Touches of golden Beatrice trailed around the stonework to create the most dramatic ceremony setting.
Pink and Blue Table Centrepiece
Pink is an unabashedly feminine hue that you can choose to embrace in all its sugary sweet glory, or temper with cool shades like powder blue or soft grey. Here Joy Proctor styled a dramatic pink rose centrepiece with a pale blue tablecloth, ticking-stripe napkins and beautiful hand-painted candles to slightly temper the strong hit of pink. The natural tones of the rattan chargers and chairs also bring an organic feel to the tablescape, providing contrast to the glamorous and blousy Constance, Miranda and Juliet roses.
